Cel-shading with thick inked outlines, a garish palette and a deranged post-apocalyptic universe: the game looks like a playable comic book. The over-the-top design of the enemies and the trashy aesthetic compose an immediately recognisable identity. This visual direction, stylish and unbridled, left a lasting mark on the FPS.
This bundle of add-ons stands out for its seasonal mini-episodes, which twist festive music. A Halloween hunt creeps on eerie organs, a holiday night turns a Christmas carol sinister, a Thanksgiving-style celebration dons gluttonous fanfares. The music has fun parodying the calendar, grafting onto the loot-shooter the grating humour of public holidays.
Is Borderlands 2 - Add-On Content Pack still worth playing in 2026?
A pillar of Gearbox's looter shooter, Borderlands 2 stays a genre peak, where four hunters with distinct abilities scour Pandora in search of millions of randomly generated guns, against the charismatic villain Handsome Jack. The biting writing, the snappy gunplay, the addictive progression and the excellent four player co-op have lost none of their force, especially in this edition packed with add-on content. The repetitive farming structure stays inherent to the genre. A landmark of loot shooting for fans of co-op and dark humour.
