Story
★★★★★
"Captivating"
Cel-shading with thick inked outlines, a garish palette and a deranged post-apocalyptic universe: the game looks like a playable comic book. The over-the-top design of the enemies and the trashy aesthetic compose an immediately recognisable identity. This visual direction, stylish and unbridled, left a lasting mark on the FPS.
Gameplay
"Masterful"
Bundled with all its DLC, this complete edition keeps intact the loot-and-shoot loop that built the series' reputation. Mixing up classes and hunting for the perfect weapon stays a compulsive pleasure, solo or four-handed. More generous than ever, it delivers the most fully realized version of a looter-shooter whose effectiveness hasn't dimmed.
Fun
"From the very first seconds"
An explosive blend of FPS and role-playing, where you harvest billions of zany guns while blasting hordes on a deranged planet: the loot loop is fiercely addictive. The ever-present humour and four-player co-op multiply the fun. Snappy, generous and packed with personality, a cult looter-shooter that grabs you for dozens of hours.
Addictiveness
"Obsessive"
Carving through enemies to land a gun with never-before-seen stats endlessly restarts a loot loop sharpened by biting humor and a memorable villain. Improving your skills and tracking down legendary weapons reward the persistence. The farming can go in circles, but the sheer generosity of content and the co-op fun hold you for dozens of hours.
Difficulty
"Balanced"
Lifespan
"Massive"
The whole campaign against Handsome Jack fits across two discs here, expansions and all: extra playable characters, additional storylines and raid zones pile onto an already colossal loot hunt. Farming legendary gear and four-player co-op keep pushing the horizon back. As the definitive version, it remains the recommended way in for anyone wanting to see everything.

Borderlands 2 - Game of the Year Edition (PS3) price, value & rarity
The Game of the Year edition of Borderlands 2, gathering the game and its sizeable set of expansions, including extra classes and campaigns, on a content disc. Widespread in the West, it forms the most complete shape of this series peak, favored by fans. Its interest lies in this generous bundling rather than scarcity.
Better with friends
Loot pillaging and unhinged gunplay marry here in four-player co-op where everyone cultivates their class and a wild arsenal. Mutual aid dominates, but the race for legendary guns breeds a teasing one-upmanship full of twists. Playable two-player in local split-screen, it suits express sessions as well as long campaigns, always with savage humor.
Is Borderlands 2 - Game of the Year Edition still worth playing in 2026?
This Game of the Year edition offers one of the best looter-shooters ever made in its most complete form, with all the major DLC folded in. The extra campaigns, including the unforgettable Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, and the additional characters swell an already colossal content to dizzying heights. Borderlands 2 keeps a timeless graphic style, sharp humour and a fiendishly addictive loot loop, heightened by co-op. For anyone discovering Pandora or wanting everything without chasing the expansions, this set is the genre's absolute benchmark.
