German release of Broken Sword 2 The Smoking Mirror. Direct sequel following George and Nico through a gripping pre-Columbian adventure. Less groundbreaking than the first but retains the series' charm and narrative quality. A solid PS1 point-and-click.

Is Broken Sword II - The Smoking Mirror still worth playing in 2026?

A direct sequel to Revolution's adventure, Broken Sword II sends George and Nico to unravel a Mayan plot between Central America and Paris. The point and click formula keeps its gorgeous painted backdrops, its humour and its careful writing, with better integrated puzzles and a more balanced hero duo. The pace stays contemplative and some object handling has aged. An excellent follow-up to recommend for fans of narrative adventure and of the George Stobbart series.
