Console-side follow-up to Finest Hour, following the US 1st Infantry Division. Bigger staging, more varied missions, decent runtime. Console CoD still finding its feet but clearly a step up on the first try. Solid without ever reaching pantheon level.

Is Call of Duty 2 - Big Red One still worth playing in 2026?

A console spin off of the series, Big Red One follows the journey of the US 1st Infantry Division, the Big Red One, through the North Africa, Sicily and Europe campaigns. More accomplished than Finest Hour, it polishes its staging, its set pieces and squad cohesion, with a well conveyed sense of unity. The linearity and dated enemy intelligence place it below modern FPS standards, though. For war game fans and Second World War enthusiasts, it remains a solid, immersive campaign.
