An improved sequel across Pacific and European theatres. Levels are better designed and enemy AI more competent than the first entry. A solid war FPS confirming the series' progression on PS2 for genre fans.
Released in 2005 and developed by Treyarch, this last-gen-exclusive entry follows the "Big Red One" — the U.S. 1st Infantry Division — from North Africa to Germany. More narrative and heroic than the PC Call of Duty 2, it leans hard into Hollywood-style spectacle.
Is Call of Duty 2 - Big Red One still worth playing in 2026?
A console entry parallel to Call of Duty 2, Big Red One follows the journey of the US First Infantry Division through North Africa, Sicily and Europe, in a scripted campaign of cinematic sweep backed by veteran narration. The intense pace, the cohesion of the story centred on a single unit and the spectacular staging appeal to fans. The dated handling and the linearity have aged. A good shooter for fans of retro war FPS and Second World War narrative.
