Treyarch take over the formula on 360 with a heavily scripted campaign and slightly stiff melee bits. Less refined than the second entry, yet the muddy Normandy stretches still grab you when the direction lets loose.
First-person shooter by Treyarch and Activision, November 2006. American, British, Canadian and Polish allied soldiers battle Nazi Germany on the Eastern and Western fronts of World War II. Squad combat mechanics, driveable ground vehicles and online multiplayer up to 24 players. Second Call of Duty on Xbox 360 adding new playable nations.
A first person shooter from Treyarch, Call of Duty 3 extends the world war formula by following Allied soldiers during the Battle of Normandy, with more interactive scripted phases and vehicle sequences. The intensity of the fights and the spectacular staging worked well at launch. The lack of originality against the second entry and a now dated production weigh it down. A decent FPS for fans of scripted war and collectors of the series on Xbox 360, without reaching the saga's peaks.
