PS1 port of the foundational RTS Command & Conquer. Two asymmetric campaigns, varied units and addictive strategic gameplay. Less convenient than PC due to the pad, but captures the essence of the original game. A genre classic worth discovering even on console.

Collector interest

The Western console port of Command & Conquer, founder of real-time strategy, shipped on discs splitting the GDI and NOD campaigns. Pulling off such a strategy game on a pad was a feat, but its very wide distribution keeps it accessible. The collector interest shifts toward reuniting both discs for a complete box, more than toward the scarcity of either one.

Is Command & Conquer still worth playing in 2026?

A PlayStation port of Westwood's RTS founder, Command & Conquer pits the GDI against the Brotherhood of Nod for control of Tiberium ore, across tense missions interspersed with live action cutscenes. The resource harvesting, the base building and the real time army management remain a genre model. Pad control weighs against the mouse, and the video 3D has aged. A strategy classic for fans of RTS and of video game history.
