An action RPG openly modelled on God of War, adapted from Dante's Divine Comedy. Combat hits hard, the dark medieval art direction really pops, and honestly the whole thing holds up much better than its reputation suggests.

Is Dante's Inferno still worth playing in 2026?

An action game from Visceral Games, Dante's Inferno transposes Dante's poem into a spectacular hack and slash where the crusader descends the nine circles of Hell, scythe in hand, to save Beatrice's soul. The inventive bestiary, the infernal art direction and the snappy pace close to God of War make it a very effective gothic vent. The acknowledged inspiration and a lack of mechanical originality divide. A good action game for fans of brutal hack and slash, macabre imagery and epic staging on Xbox 360.
