You fish in peace, then horror creeps in from the edge of the screen. The loop of pushing farther, selling, and upgrading your boat is devilishly moreish, and the Lovecraftian dread keeps you on edge. Short but memorable.

An underrated gem

You can't quite say Dredge slipped by unnoticed: its indie success eventually made waves. But many reduce it to a simple "cozy fishing game," never suspecting the Lovecraftian dread that haunts it. By day you fill your nets and manage your hold like a puzzle; by night, strange horrors surface and sanity wavers. That bittersweet tension and uneasy maritime atmosphere are its real triumph. For players who love when comfort conceals a quiet menace.

Is Dredge still worth playing in 2026?

Fishing by day, fleeing horror by night, Dredge weds calm management to Lovecraftian dread with quiet skill. Packing your hold like a puzzle, hauling in grotesque catches, running uneasy quests, it all weaves a loop as soothing as it is anxious once the sky darkens. The adventure is short and its systems shallow, so expect no stiff challenge. But the atmosphere, the hushed writing and the day-night cycle make it a memorable interlude. Recent, refined, and right in step with the moment.
