FIFA 17 experiments with storytelling through The Journey and young Alex Hunter, a real breath of fresh air for the series. The 360 version misses the story mode, yet the football stays pleasant and keeps the essentials of a well balanced vintage.

A late high point of the series on the console, this edition pushes Ultimate Team and its collecting cycle to maturity, between packs, challenges and tournaments that never run dry. The Career unfolds across multiple seasons and the licensed leagues remain a reliable staple of the evenings. The abundance of complementary modes, where each player forges their own habits, justifies a longevity fans still nurture.
EA Sports' 2017 simulation on Xbox 360, FIFA 17 offers a so-called legacy version resting on the previous generation's engine, without the story mode or the novelties exclusive to recent machines, but with updated rosters. The proven handling, the richness of Ultimate Team and the fidelity to the leagues win over the faithful. The absence of major evolutions and the closure of online servers weigh heavily. A title for Xbox 360 players after an updated season without changing console.
