Bodies modelled with stunning realism, sweat, bruises and ring light: every bout looks like a television broadcast. The fluidity of the dodges and the impact of the blows reinforce an almost tangible presence. This visual realism, polished and visceral, places the game among the console's showcases.
The story mode comes with a cinematic score. Where the free fights play out to the dry noise of blows, Andre Bishop's campaign is carried by music written for the scene, tense pads during training, a dark theme for the prison passages, orchestral and hip-hop swell at the big galas. This original soundtrack, distinct from the ring atmosphere, treats the boxer's career like a film rather than a mere string of matches.
The story follows Andre Bishop, a promising boxer wrongly accused and thrown in prison at the peak of his rise. His sentence served, he returns to the ring older, harder, set on exposing the crooked promoter who brought him down. The tale chains betrayal, confinement, comeback and revenge in a film-noir register, making the sporting career the pretext for a drama of redemption and settling of scores.
