Destruction derby racing game with fun arcade gameplay and impressive physical damage for the era. Chaotic races and violent collisions are exhilarating. Less accomplished than the sequel but already carrying the DNA that would make the FlatOut franchise successful.

Description
An arcade racer by Bugbear released in 2004, built around raw demolition-derby thrills. Deformable bodywork in real time, drivers literally launching from their cars at speed and unhinged physics: an unapologetically arcade approach that breaks sharply with Need for Speed and friends.

Is FlatOut still worth playing in 2026?

A destructive racer from Bugbear, FlatOut leans on spectacular collision physics, ravaging tracks and the propulsion of the driver through the windscreen in zany minigames. The sense of speed, the generous damage and the gleeful chaos of races make for an effective, still enjoyable vent. The slightly rough driving and an aggressive AI need a period of adaptation. A snappy arcade racer to recommend for fans of spectacular wreckage and carefree motorised derby.
