The first entry sets its scene in a rural America of wild racing. The tracks are muddy dirt courses, quarries and worksites ringed with old tires, where battered stock cars, rusted and caked in muck, do battle. The art direction cultivates this owned grime of the country demolition derby, earthy palette and clapped-out vehicles, far from any flash: an open-air junkyard aesthetic.
The soundtrack runs on heavy, no-concession rock. Saturated guitars, hammered drums and bawling choruses form a continuous wall of sound, cut for the aggression of contact racing. The music seeks neither finesse nor breathing room: it holds a constant regime of fury, an accomplice of the brutal driving, and pushes the player to charge and smash without ever easing the tension.
