Fuel impresses first and foremost with the sheer absurd size of its post-apocalyptic open world. Driving for hours through enormous landscapes is genuinely intoxicating, even if the actual racing content never quite fills all that space.

An open world racer from Codemasters, Fuel offers one of the vastest playgrounds of the generation, a post-apocalyptic expanse of several thousand square kilometres to roam freely on bike, buggy or truck. The dizzying scale, the dynamic weather and the sense of freedom still impress. The scattered content and a forgettable handling temper the whole. An atypical racing game for fans of off road exploration and outsized open worlds to roam without constraint.
