A bigger, wilder sequel that adds dimensions to explore and even more whirling combat. The Mexican-flavoured humour sparkles and local co-op is a blast. Demanding toward the end, but bursting with vitality and style.

Memorable bosses

The wrestling metroidvania unleashes colorful duels where dimension-swapping dodges, lucha libre combos and plane shifts cascade at breakneck pace. Every foe sets a puzzle of movement and timing, carried by riotous humor and a flamboyant Mexican style that makes these clashes as demanding as they are downright joyful.

Better with friends

Romping through Guacamelee! 2's colourful metroidvania with up to four players juggles demanding platforming and cooperative brawling. You take turns on puzzles, pummel enemies in rhythm, and coordination is king when dimensions flip. One small snag: the camera can separate over-eager adventurers, sparking a squabble or two. But the humour and energy mean you'll gladly bring it back out for a vibrant run with family or friends.

Is Guacamelee! 2 still worth playing in 2026?

Guacamelee! 2 refines the first game's recipe with infectious flair. Its blend of demanding platforming, wrestling-move combat and switching between two dimensions stays remarkably fluid, and its colourful Mexican folklore brims with energy and humour. The title reuses many of its predecessor's ideas without revolutionising everything, which may lend a déjà-vu air for connoisseurs. But the level design is more inventive than ever, and up-to-four co-op adds spice. For lovers of brisk Metroidvanias, it is a joyful and still dynamic sequel.
