A brisk musou set before Breath of the Wild, letting you play the Champions and Link against endless hordes. The fan service is generous and the action exhilarating. Frame drops dent the spectacle a little, but the fun holds.

Memorable bosses

The musou onslaught peaks when a lone hero must shatter hordes before facing colossi whose stature fills the battlefield. Chaining special attacks while exploiting weakness gauges delivers an exhilarating jolt. The epic staging and faithfulness to the Zelda universe give these clashes a truly grandiose sweep.

Better with friends

Played locally for two, this musou lets you mow down entire hordes side by side, each unleashing powers on your half of the battlefield. The co-operation is pure joy: you divide the fronts, sync your assaults and savour the enemy counters soaring. Split-screen costs a little fluidity and clarity, but never spoils the party. An ideal stress-buster to relaunch whenever you want to flatten everything together.
