The Double Gear is a real find: slowing time or overcharging your shots adds a layer of decision at every instant. The rest is Mega Man in its purest form — pinpoint jumps, stolen weapons, levels to memorize — and it's irreproachable.
The eight Robot Masters are the very heart of the game, each with its theme, arena and weapon to steal. The joy lies in that virtuous circle: beating one makes the next more approachable, and finding the right weakness is a small victory of wits.
Is Mega Man 11 still worth playing in 2026?
Several years after release, Mega Man 11 remains the Blue Bomber's best modern entry, and the series' only major recent return. Its impeccable playability, Double Gear system and well-judged difficulty make it an ideal gateway as much as a treat for veterans. As the demanding action platformer rides high, it's a safe bet. On Switch, its eight stages replay perfectly in short sessions, to beat one Robot Master at a time.
