Best Midnight Club entry on PS2, with phenomenal customisation and racing across Los Angeles, San Francisco and Atlanta. The DUB car customisation system is generous and nocturnal races through American cities are memorable. Excellent street racing.

Description
A Rockstar San Diego and Rockstar Games sequel released in 2005 (US, Europe, Australia), the third main entry subtitled "DUB Edition." Three massive cities (San Diego, Atlanta, Detroit), deep DUB Magazine-style tuning and a huge roster of real-licensed cars and bikes. The peak of the series.

Story
"Anecdotal"
Behind the wheel, the game spins a sharp licensed selection of hip-hop, electro and rock that matches the nocturnal tarmac of the urban races. The heavy beats and deep bass spike the adrenaline of the illegal chases. This street soundtrack, polished and immersive, gives the game an authentic urban-night sheen.

Collector interest

Rockstar San Diego's Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition, a nocturnal street racer marked by its profusion of licensed tuning brands and a hip-hop soundtrack dated in the best way. Still common, its interest lies in this period flavor and in the original version soon giving way to the Remix, which earns it a mild curiosity. An accessible piece for arcade-racing fans of the PS2 era.

Better with friends

A nighttime city race where you customize flashy machines to challenge the streets of a city given over to speed, several in split-screen. The competition blends aggressive driving, clever shortcuts and showing off, where finding the right line through traffic sorts out the drivers. Stylish and snappy, it turns every crossing into a prestige duel where you rib each other over the slightest error and the rematch beckons at once.

Is Midnight Club 3 - DUB Edition still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2005 on PS2, Rockstar San Diego's project blends open world street racing with tuning culture in the spirit of DUB magazine. The arcade driving, nervous and exhilarating, bets on dizzying bursts of speed across freely roamed cities, from San Diego to Tokyo. The vehicle customisation reaches a depth rare for the era, with rims, bodywork and audio systems. The hip hop and electro soundtrack anchors the title firmly in its year. The brutal difficulty of the artificial intelligence divides. Recommended for fans of free arcade racing and of the car culture of the two thousands that defined a whole aesthetic.
