Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak review
The jump to Master Rank reignites interest from end to end: nastier new monsters, a bestiary with renewed bite, and enriched techniques, including wirebug dodges, that smooth an already superb formula. Weapon depth keeps every hunt rewarding, and four-player co-op stays the heart of the fun. Knowing Rise helps, but this is one of the most generous action-RPG adventures to recommend without reserve on Switch.
Where the base game stopped, Sunbreak reopens the hunt with Master Rank: faster, fiercer monsters, Wirebug-borne Switch Skills, and above all the Anomaly system that reinvents farming as numbered progression. Felling a target unlocks a harder investigation, which unlocks a better talisman, which calls the next target. This expansion sustains the pull precisely by injecting fresh tiers. Caution: chasing optimal talismans leans on an openly acknowledged dose of luck.
Conceived as a massive extension to the original, this addition pushes the endgame threshold further with new monsters, a higher difficulty tier and a whole arsenal of techniques to unlock. Hunting the most formidable creatures becomes a long-term goal. That way of stretching the hunt without ever making it repetitive naturally carries its reputation among veterans.
