The best Need for Speed for many franchise fans. Breathtaking police chases, excellent Rockport open world, extensive customization. Antagonist Razor is memorable. One of the best racing games of the Xbox generation across all categories.

Collector interest

An Electronic Arts street racer blending driving, tuning and police chases, one of the most-loved Need for Speed games of the time and a pillar of the genre on Xbox. Mass-printed, it stays everywhere and lightly priced. Its collector interest lies in its status as a cult entry of the series rather than scarcity, its colossal distribution ruling out any notable price.

Is Need for Speed - Most Wanted still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2005, Criterion and EA Black Box's entry imposes an urban and nervous police chase with a strikingly effective cinematic staging. The Blacklist and its vengeful tone give real dramaturgy to progression, and the handling lands a pleasant arcade balance. The car modelling and the tuning culture preserve a flavour of the era that has aged well. Visuals have aged and free roam replay value runs out. Recommended today for fans of open world racing and for nostalgics of Need for Speed's underground era on the original Xbox console hardware before the studio pivoted again.
