Bullfrog composes a megacity seen at an angle, drowned in permanent rain and lit in blue neon. Agents in long coats move as tiny silhouettes between towers bristling with aerials, while the civilian crowd goes about unaware. Explosions and fires tear through that methodical darkness.
Syndicate is the USA/EU edition of the Bullfrog/Electronic Arts game, a cyberpunk tactical title by Peter Molyneux ported to Megadrive. Its collector value comes from this Bullfrog/Molyneux lineage that is rare on 16-bit Sega and from the fact that the Megadrive version is the only major console appearance of the Bullfrog masterpiece before the PlayStation era.
Is Syndicate still worth playing in 2026?
A cyberpunk tactical title by Bullfrog adapted to Mega CD, Syndicate offers real time strategy where the player directs a team of four cyborgs on missions in a dystopia of rival corporations. The cynical tone, tactical freedom and dark atmosphere still work admirably. The Mega CD version benefits from improved cutscenes and a redbook soundtrack.
