Collector interest

A zany action-strategy game in which you assemble crates to produce units and weapons in cartoonish arenas, by a studio close to the Psygnosis spirit. Still common, its interest lies in this original concept and its convivial multiplayer rather than scarcity. A likeable, affordable piece for fans of offbeat action games from the end of the generation.

Better with friends

A zany action-strategy where you assemble squads of little soldiers to overwhelm the opponent in arenas for up to four. The competition blends reflexes and express tactics: producing, equipping and launching your buddies at the right moment decides the chaotic battles. Unpredictable and hilarious, it favors fun and resourcefulness, and its absurd reversals trigger laughter and makeshift alliances.

Is Team Buddies still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2000 on PS1, Psygnosis Leeds' project offers an explosive blend of arcade real time strategy, shooting and brawling for up to four players in split screen. The Buddies build themselves from crates, and the field management through a portable factory installs a very readable dynamic. The cartoon art direction and the irreverent humour keep a recognisable British flavour. The single player mode is short and readability sometimes slips in the chaos. Recommended today for families, for Psygnosis devotees and for PS1 collectors curious about an atypical party game on Sony's first home console hardware globally.
