Tropico 6 review
Ruling a tropical island while juggling rival factions, budgets and rigged elections: the temptation to stabilize the economy or your popularity "just a bit more" lets the hours slip by unnoticed. Historical eras, edicts and superpowers to appease multiply the levers and interlocking goals. Its biting humor and the freedom to play a cynical yet charismatic dictator renew the urge to try other approaches. Its management depth holds interest for a long time. Drawback: the learning curve is dense and micromanagement can grow tedious on large maps.
Running a tropical island across eras turns each playthrough into a political marathon: edicts, rigged elections, trade and factions to appease demand constant attention. Varied scenarios, the sandbox and the challenge of a runaway economy keep relaunching the loop. A satirical city-builder whose management depth makes up its whole lifespan.
