Wild Arms is a foundational PS1 JRPG blending medieval fantasy and American western in a post-apocalyptic desert. Original puzzle system with ARM mechanical weapons, memorable Michiko Naruke soundtrack. Touching narrative. One of PS1's first great JRPGs that paved the way for Square titles on Sony's console.

Is Wild Arms still worth playing in 2026?

Media.Vision's first PlayStation RPG, Wild Arms blends heroic fantasy and western imagery in the desert world of Filgaia, with heroes wielding firearms and magic. The turn based battles, the tool based dungeon puzzles and the sublime opening by Michiko Naruke stay memorable. The sprites on 3D backgrounds and some mechanics show their age. A great period JRPG for genre fans, lovers of fantasy western mood and the curious about PlayStation classics.
