Spiritual sequel to N64's 1080, snappy snowboard races that still look gorgeous for their time. Fantastic feel of speed, long open runs and a very early-2000s soundtrack. Could use more modes but the core ride is delicious.

Korean pressing of 1080 Avalanche, Nintendo's snowboarding simulation, released on a particularly narrow GameCube market. The console had only a very small presence in Korea, making local editions far harder to find than their Western or Japanese counterparts. Its interest lies in that geographic scarcity and the value enthusiasts place on Korean variants of Nintendo productions.

Is 1080 Avalanche still worth playing in 2026?

A sequel to the N64's famous 1080 Snowboarding, Avalanche from Nintendo banks on snappy runs, spectacular avalanches and a demanding yet rewarding carving physics. The sense of speed and the rendering of snow stayed impressive for the time, carried by a rock soundtrack. The content is a touch thin and the handling takes some adjustment. For fans of arcade snowboarding and the 1080 lineage, it remains an exhilarating descent, sharper than the console's average boarding games.
