The Advanced Dungeons & Dragons series on NES adapts the cult TSR RPG into several sub series (DragonStrike, Dragons of Flame, Heroes of the Lance, Hillsfar, Pool of Radiance) with dungeon exploration and turn based combat. The version keeps TSR tactical depth despite 8 bit constraints. Solid for 8 bit western RPG fans, tactical genre classic.

The American NES release of Hillsfar is one of the last licensed AD&D carts distributed in the United States in 1993, right at the end of the cycle as Nintendo shifted to the Super NES. That late-release status explains low production numbers and a scarce boxed presence today. The value gap versus the Famicom edition is striking, complete US copies running well past four figures and sought by fans of Western RPGs on the NES.
