A demanding 16 bit mascot platformer, sometimes unfair in its jumps, but blessed with real visual and musical personality.

Is Aero the Acro-Bat still worth playing in 2026?

Sunsoft's bat mascot, Aero the Acro-Bat swaps standard platforming for a circus world, with loops, trapezes and acrobat cannons. The idea is original and the execution polished, between bright colours and smooth animation. A sometimes maze like level design and slightly stiff handling slow the fun, and the character never broke through against the genre's heavyweights. A likeable curiosity for fans of 16 bit platformers and forgotten 90s mascots.
