Japanese-origin horizontal shooter with modular ship and varied bestiary. Decent feel, readability sometimes suffers. Honorable for 1990, soon dated.

Collector interest

The European edition of Aerostar is harder to track down than its US counterpart, its PAL distribution having been narrower for this Vic Tokai shooter. For PAL completists, that very territorial scarcity is the point: the game stays minor, but the European version grows scarcer on the market. The collecting angle is therefore regional, tied to the difficulty of closing out a PAL Game Boy shmup library rather than to any renown the title might claim.
