Description
Galil and his human allies join forces with rebel races to resist the Daemons plunging the world into darkness in this new JRPG from the Suikoden team. Published by FuRyu, released in Japan in June 2017. Turn-based battles with skills learned dynamically in combat, Guilds to found and develop, vast world to explore. Japan exclusive.
A late FuRyu JRPG developed by Cattle Call, carried by SaGa veterans and a direct heir to The Legend of Legacy, praised for its learn-in-battle skill system and spare open world. Released at the very end of the 3DS's life, its physical run was limited. The Japanese edition is the original and the more accessible of the two. A later remaster did not dry up demand for the original on cartridge, now one of the machine's last great sought-after RPGs.
An underrated gem
Crafted by former hands behind Suikoden and SaGa, this JRPG weaves a tale of resistance in an occupied land, with a sprawling map and a free-form progression system. Released with little fanfare, it slipped past the genre's giants. Its old-school charm and sheer scope will delight anyone nostalgic for classic Japanese RPGs.
Is Alliance Alive, The still worth playing in 2026?
The Alliance Alive is a FuRyu JRPG led by veterans of Suikoden and the SaGa series, in which humans ally with oppressed races to overthrow the Demons' rule. The system of learning skills mid-battle and managing Guilds brings rewarding depth, in a vast world that is a pleasure to explore. The warm art direction and well-kept pacing make it an endearing adventure. For fans of classic JRPGs with retro charm and free exploration, it is a success worth discovering.
