The series reboot delivers a faster, more airborne mecha that fumbles its story now and then but feels electric in the hands. Customisation is still enormous and the industrial soundtrack scores every arena run beautifully.

Collector interest

The Japanese and Korean run of Armored Core 4, an entry of FromSoftware's mech series renowned for its extreme customization and technical piloting, long before the studio's worldwide acclaim. The series' first step onto HD hardware, it reworks piloting around faster, more imposing units. On a region-locked console, the original edition draws fans of the saga keen on the native version. Its interest lies in this regional run and the rising value of Armored Core among collectors.

Is Armored Core 4 still worth playing in 2026?

FromSoftware's first foray on the HD generation, Armored Core 4 reinvents the mecha series with tenfold speed, wildly agile Next robots and a technical overhaul that favours the spectacle of the clashes. The still dense customisation and the snappy piloting feel appeal to fans. The narrative austerity, the mission repetition and a tough difficulty put off newcomers. A demanding mecha game for fans of robot customisation and high speed technical action.
