A budget shoot-and-cover romp riding on the cute conceit of plastic army men in domestic settings. The premise raises a smile, the sixteen missions vary their backdrops nicely, but stiff controls and a lazy camera drag the whole thing down. Likeable, nothing more.

The European edition of Army Men - Sarge's Heroes, released late 1999 by 3DO with multilingual English/French/German localization. The trilingual PAL packaging sets this version apart for regional completists. The game itself, budget action on the green-army-men theme, carries no prestige, and its loose price stays modest. The interest lies in the scarcity of complete PAL copies of a prolific but seldom-kept 3DO license title.
