Two of Assassin's Creed's naval adventures bundled together, with the freedom of the open sea as the real draw. Boarding a galleon in a storm still thrills, and Rogue owns its darker tone well. The Switch port holds up despite a few compromises.

Memorable bosses

Pairing two pirate adventures from the saga, Assassin's Creed: The Rebel Collection makes each hunt its own confrontation: you stalk a naval commander, broadside his ship with cannon fire, then board for the blade duel. The sea battles against forts and legendary vessels crest in clashes where roiling waves and steel decide everything.

A questionable morality

Sailing the Caribbean as a gentleman pirate mostly means boarding every ship you cross, plundering its cargo and sending its crew to the depths, all between assassination missions carried out in the name of a noble ideal of freedom. We pile up loot and blade-work with the zest of a likable buccaneer, hardly wondering how many strangers foot the bill. The gap between the emancipatory rhetoric and the methodical freebooting is good for a smile.
