A nicely drawn Asterix platformer, with the Asterix and Obelix duo well brought to life. Slightly stiff in handling, but charming for fans of the comics.

Is Asterix and the Great Rescue still worth playing in 2026?

Asterix and the Great Rescue is a Core Design platformer adapted from the comic, in which Asterix and Obelix roam villages and lands to free their friends captured by the Romans. The art direction faithful to the albums, the humor and the ability to switch between the two heroes bring a pleasant cachet. The demanding, sometimes labyrinthine level design and a high difficulty can frustrate. For fans of retro licensed platformers and the Asterix universe, it is a polished but tough adaptation, to reserve for patient players.
