Charming Asterix platformer. Colorful stages, humor true to the comic, slightly slippery controls. Solid adaptation for its time.

Collector interest

A platform adaptation of the Astérix comics, this European release speaks straight to its home audience: Astérix is a Franco-Belgian institution, and the object gains meaning where the licence is culturally rooted. Common in its day, it mainly draws comic-licence collectors and nostalgics of the Gaul. The loose cart stays very affordable; value shifts to a complete copy with a clean cardboard box and manual, harder to gather in fine shape than merely to locate.

Is Asterix still worth playing in 2026?

Infogrames' take on the Gaul, this platformer sends Asterix to thrash the Roman legions across settings drawn from the comic, with a responsive character and precise jumps. The colourful production and the good natured mood stay pleasant, true to the spirit of the albums. The classic structure and the lack of fresh ideas keep it a good game without flair. A decent platformer that will please Asterix fans and nostalgics of European licences on the Super Nintendo.
