Story
"Captivating"
Lovingly rebuilt, the kingdom of Phantomile unfurls its fairy-tale colours and 2.5D settings of enveloping softness. The long-eared hero and the dreamlike landscapes compose a readable, warm enchantment. This picture-book aesthetic, timeless, still charms at first glance.

Collector interest

Klonoa, the Western version of the Wii remake of Namco's platform classic, reinterpreting in relief a long-overlooked dreamlike first-PlayStation gem. Still common, its collector interest rests on this careful rebirth of a cult title and attachment to the mascot rather than scarcity. A prime piece for fans of sensitive platforming on the console, accessible boxed.

An underrated gem

A sumptuous remake of the first Klonoa, this 2D-3D platformer keeps the poetry and the enemy-grabbing gameplay of the original, rebuilt from the ground up. Released in near silence on a console drowning in party games, it sold poorly. Charming and moving, it will delight fans of expressive platforming and those nostalgic for the PlayStation.

Is Klonoa still worth playing in 2026?

This Korean edition of the Wii remake of Klonoa Door to Phantomile brilliantly revives one of the finest platformers of the late 1990s. The signature 2.5D gameplay, built on grabbing and throwing enemies to bounce and solve progression puzzles, keeps a remarkable elegance and precision, heightened by a warm graphic overhaul. The story, surprisingly poignant for the genre, culminates in an ending famous for its emotion. Short but of great coherence, the title has lost none of its charm. For the fan of classic and poetic platforming, this too-overlooked gem amply deserves the visit.
