Bad Company unstuffs the series with a funny campaign, massive destruction and a squad of lovable misfits. Multiplayer cements the formula and on-the-fly demolition genuinely changes how firefights play out.

Collector interest

Battlefield Bad Company, a DICE military shooter that brought notable environmental destruction and a lighter tone to the console, whose Gold edition remains rarer than the standard run. Very widespread in its common version, its collector interest rests mainly on this signature destruction and, for the Gold, on a more limited run rather than a general scarcity. An accessible piece for a shooter set on the console.

Better with friends

Large-scale battles give the series all its flavor, where squads, vehicles and destruction turn every map into a living theater of operations. The competition rewards team coordination over solo heroics: covering an ally, retaking a point or flying a chopper spawns improvised stories. Online play hinges on servers whose longevity is no longer assured, but the formula stays heady.

Is Battlefield - Bad Company still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2008 on Xbox 360, DICE's first Bad Company brings the series an irreverent tone and a memorable solo campaign carried by a colourful squad. The big novelty is environmental destruction through the Frostbite engine, which truly changes things when a wall collapses on an entrenched enemy. The Conquest multiplayer keeps a tactical flavour. The original online has shut down, and the solo drags in places. But the writing and the destructible sandbox stay a joy. For fans of military shooters with character, the experience holds genuine appeal even now.
