Post-apocalyptic tank brawling from 3DO. The story campaign holds together, the four-player split-screen is genuinely cathartic and each tank has its own identity. The gunnery feels a touch soft and the AI is predictable, but as a multiplayer toy it delivers.

Is BattleTanx still worth playing in 2026?

BattleTanx is a 3DO action game in which you control tanks in a post-apocalyptic America, facing rival gangs for control of resources, solo or in multiplayer. The concept of snappy armored combat and the split-screen multiplayer mode bring an effective outlet. The repetition of objectives and a modest presentation temper the enthusiasm. For fans of retro vehicular action and N64 multiplayer chaos, it is an entertaining curiosity, mainly delightful with several on a single screen.
