A surprisingly polished Sailor Moon action RPG blending battles and chats, made for the fans. A real little SFC surprise.

Angel sticks to Naoko Takeuchi's line with careful fidelity: elongated silhouettes, sailor uniforms in frank colours, brooches and tiaras kept legible despite the size of the sprites. The transformation cut ins reuse the framing of the anime, and the settings, from contemporary Tokyo to frozen kingdoms, keep the clarity of inked colouring.
The soundtrack mixes arrangements of the series' familiar themes with pieces written for this original story: synthetic brass for the transformations, fast strings for battles, gentler melodies when the heroines are simply together. Individual motifs let you recognise by ear which of the Senshi is on screen.
The licence's only role playing game on the machine does not recycle the manga: it invents a threat that undoes past victories one by one, forcing the Senshi to relive their own battles in order to win them again. That idea turns nostalgia into a stake, and the story allows itself a gravity the series' adaptations usually avoided.
Complete: box, manual and disc/cart very clean. Lightly handled.

A 1995 Angel/Bandai Super Famicom RPG, Japan-exclusive, with an original narrative that extends the Sailor Moon canon rather than simply adapting the anime. The cart is culturally important as one of the rare RPG forays into the Sailor Moon line, and intact boxed CIB with cardboard sleeve and illustrated manual has become a target for anime-licence collectors. The Japanese cote climbs hard, sustained by foreign demand renewed by Sailor Moon Crystal.
Is Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon - Another Story still worth playing in 2026?
Never released outside Japan, Sailor Moon Another Story is a JRPG signed by Angel that rises well above the usual tie in. The dialogue writing, the staging and the turn based combat with dual attacks deliver a level of comfort the license rarely suggested. A polished fan translation exists. For fans of 16 bit Japanese RPGs curious about an off radar production and for series enthusiasts alike, a warm and surprisingly substantial discovery, far more than a piece of franchise merchandise.
