Borderlands The Pre-Sequel takes place on Pandora's moon and introduces zero-gravity and freezing mechanics. More experimental than BL2, less accomplished but enjoyable for franchise and Handsome Jack lore fans.
2K Games Borderlands 2 prequel telling Handsome Jack's origins on the moon. Published by 2K Games, released in Europe in October 2014. Four-player co-op, lunar gravity and low-gravity jumps, new character classes and millions of generated weapons. European version.

Cel-shading with thick inked outlines, a garish palette and a deranged post-apocalyptic universe: the game looks like a playable comic book. The over-the-top design of the enemies and the trashy aesthetic compose an immediately recognisable identity. This visual direction, stylish and unbridled, left a lasting mark on the FPS.

Borderlands - The Pre-Sequel! (PS3) price, value & rarity
Is Borderlands - The Pre-Sequel! still worth playing in 2026?
An interquel in Gearbox and 2K Australia's saga, Borderlands - The Pre-Sequel! moves the looter shooter to Pandora's moon, with low gravity, long jumps and combat under limited oxygen. The offbeat humour, the near infinite gun generator and the cooperative progression stay the formula's major assets. The recycled settings and a lesser ambition than the numbered entries weigh on it. A good looter shooter for fans of snappy loot shooting and zany co-op in the Borderlands world.
