Story
"Captivating"
In the lineage of its predecessor, the adventure extends its painted landscapes and miniature towns with a delightful finesse. Inventive costumes and soft light feed a coherent enchantment, magnified by the 3D depth. This pictorial direction, tender and refined, keeps the charm of an illustrated tale.

Collector interest

Bravely Second carries on its predecessor's aura but with a quieter commercial fate: the PAL release had a short retail life and many copies slipped into clearance early, paradoxically thinning the pool of pristine survivors. Its collector value mostly stems from being one of the last major JRPGs published in Europe by Nintendo on 3DS, marking the end of a localisation policy the company never quite renewed.

Is Bravely Second - End Layer still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2015 in Japan then 2016 in the West on 3DS, Square Enix's project extends Bravely Default by polishing its turn based combat around the Brave and Default pairing. The newcomer Yew and the further widened job system, accompanied by chaining combos between actions, deepen an already rich strategy. The watercolour art direction and the careful soundtrack keep the series' charm. The story that recycles settings from the first entry and a certain classicism divide. A solid and generous sequel, recommended for fans of turn based RPGs and of class optimisation who want more of a proven formula.
