A true Game Boy sequel with elemental bubbles (fire, water, electricity). Over a hundred levels, richer mechanics, link-cable multi. The best Bubble Bobble on the system, more inventive than the first game's port. For absolute fans, chain it with Bust-A-Move 2 in the same spirit.

Collector interest

The US version of this end-of-life sequel is even harder to find complete, its American cardboard box having weathered poorly on an already thinly distributed title. Far from a simple port, it is the series' peak on the machine, which sustains lasting demand. As a cartridge it remains findable, but the complete NTSC copy in fine condition stands out as the truly coveted collector's object.

Is Bubble Bobble Part 2 still worth playing in 2026?

Bubble Bobble Part 2 extends the adventure of dragons Bub and Bob with new elemental effects for the bubbles, more than a hundred levels and end of stage bosses. The formula stays just as effective and charming, enriched with welcome variety that refreshes the situations. The conversion keeps good readability and a lively rhythm. Without revolutionizing the original concept, this sequel offers a generous dose of retro fun. Worth recommending to fans of the first entry and of friendly arcade platforming after a clever challenge.
