CoD 2 on console with a campaign centered on the US 1st Armored Division in North Africa and Europe. More narrative than other CoDs of the era, memorable characters. A good alternative for those preferring a more human story.

The presentation borrows from period documentary: black and white transition cards, archive footage, hand-annotated maps and a voice-over placing each stage. The game itself stays in colour, but that printed frame keeps reminding you that a real unit is being followed rather than an invented squad.

Is Call of Duty 2 - Big Red One still worth playing in 2026?

A war FPS from Treyarch, Call of Duty 2 Big Red One follows the journey of a soldier of the US 1st Infantry Division, the Big Red One, from North Africa to Germany. The narrative centred on a single unit, more personal than the usual formula, the veterans' voices and the intensity of the combat bring a real identity. The linearity and a production less fine than on PC or next gen weigh. A war FPS to recommend for World War II fans and campaigns at human scale.
