Story
"Captivating"
Tangy colours and a pop design of rare boldness bring Mimin Island to life, a refuge for Nintendo's forgotten heroes. The blend of unashamed kitsch and meticulous care creates an offbeat tone, instantly recognisable. This graphic eccentricity, a cult favourite among the curious, has no equivalent on the machine.

Collector interest

Eccentric adventure game by Skip Ltd published by Nintendo in 2008, kept exclusively Japanese and never localized despite persistent demand from the Western community. Its gallery of forgotten Nintendo characters and its offbeat tone made it a cult import object, whose complete absence of release outside the archipelago heightens the desire. Its collecting interest rests on this Japan-exclusivity sought by fans of Nintendo curiosities, who make it a priority import target.

Is Captain Rainbow still worth playing in 2026?

A curiosity from Skip and Nintendo, Captain Rainbow casts a washed up superhero who visits an island peopled with forgotten Nintendo characters to grant their wishes. The offbeat humour, the gallery of obscure figures and the blend of adventure, puzzles and yo-yo combat make a truly singular work. The uneven pace and the untranslated Japan exclusivity close off access. A cult gem for fans of unusual video game artefacts and devotees of Nintendo's most confidential history.
