Adapted from the educational Carmen Sandiego franchise, The Secret of the Stolen Drums trades the usual geographic investigation for a 3D action adventure where you chase the famous thief across the globe. The change of scenery and faithfulness to the license have a certain charm, but the gameplay stays stiff, the camera fickle and the whole fairly repetitive. The presentation has aged. For Carmen Sandiego nostalgics and young players, it offers an exotic, accessible adventure, without the depth or polish of the genre's references.
