Collector interest

The Japanese remake of the very first Castlevania, originally an X68000 standout, reissued very late on PlayStation in 2001. This end-of-life release, necessarily small in print, appeals to those after the console's final physical titles. Its interest comes from this status as a late reworking of a series founder, in a careful format that has grown scarce today.

Is Castlevania Chronicle - Akumajou Dracula still worth playing in 2026?

Castlevania Chronicles, known as Castlevania Chronicle - Akumajou Dracula in Japan, is the faithful remake of the first Castlevania, originally released on MSX in 1986 and ported here to PS1 by M2. The title offers a visually modernised version while preserving the demanding gameplay and gothic atmosphere of the original. Two graphical modes (Arrange and Original) honour purists. A genuinely excellent detour today.
