The first 3D Castlevania on PS2, with a highly polished gothic atmosphere. Combat and memorable bosses are highlights. Less complex than the series' classic 2D entries but an accessible and enjoyable title for newcomers and fans alike.

Signed by Michiru Yamane, the music coats the castle in sumptuous gothic themes, between baroque orchestrations and melodic flights of a funereal elegance. Each room pulses with a dramatic tension perfectly in tune with the vampire hunt. This refined sonic richness extends the saga's musical heritage with brio.

Is Castlevania - Lament of Innocence still worth playing in 2026?

A Konami action game known in Europe simply as Castlevania, Lament of Innocence brings the saga into the third dimension, following Leon Belmont, the first hunter of the line, through a castle whose rooms brim with whip combat and puzzles. The snappy combat system, the sumptuous gothic art direction and Michiru Yamane's music lay the foundations of 3D Castlevania. The more linear exploration than the two dimensional entries divides. An excellent action game for fans of the saga and lovers of the gothic on PS2.
