First portable Castlevania. Christopher Belmont, upgradeable whip, four gothic levels. Scrolling chugs, the hero is slow, some jumps wreck your nerves. Still a Castlevania of pure atmosphere, impeccable OST by Norio Hanzawa. More historical than recommendable; Belmont's Revenge does everything better.

From the Game Boy's modest capabilities, Konami draws gothic themes that are surprisingly evocative, gloomy and melodic at once. The music tracks Christopher Belmont's slow progress through the castle, heightening every shiver. This chiptune achievement, dark and atmospheric, marked the saga's handheld debut.

Castlevania - The Adventure (Game Boy) price, value & rarity
Castlevania - The Adventure, the European version of the first portable entry of Konami's saga, in which Christopher Belmont wields the sacred whip against the forces of night. This founding port of the series on Game Boy enjoys a historical status, despite a slower pace than its elders. Its desirability lies in its role as the starting point of a revered lineage and a PAL run more measured than its American equivalents.
