3D reboot of the Atari arcade classic, third-person view and maze-like arenas. Fast action but marked repetition. A clumsy tribute that doesn't match the original.

Is Centipede still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 1999, this remake takes the great Atari arcade classic and adds a three dimensional adventure mode. The heart stays that frantic shooting where the centipede snakes down through the mushrooms, as readable and demanding as ever in pure mode. The modern additions are uneven and the presentation stays plain. The original formula, though, keeps all its snap, and scoring lovers and the curious about Atari heritage rediscover an immediate pleasure that is surprisingly intact.
