Helicopter rescue, classic sequel. Same mechanics as the originals, polished 16-bit visuals, varied missions. Solid.

Collector interest

The PAL edition of Choplifter III, a small-run European release with a multilingual manual, trickier to complete than the average 16-bit helicopter rescue. A competent sequel without cult aura, its desirability comes mainly from its relative scarcity on the European market and its place as the series' SNES send-off. Interest lies in a clean complete copy, the PAL cardboard box and manual in good shape making most of the value.

Is Choplifter III still worth playing in 2026?

A helicopter rescue action game, Choplifter III extends the classic formula of picking up hostages under enemy fire before bringing them back to base. The demanding piloting, the ammo management and the environment variety give the action a tactical edge. The decent but unremarkable production and a repetitive concept limit the long term interest. A title for fans of retro rescue shooters and nostalgics of the long Choplifter line.
