The draw is above all the signature of Masami Obari, whose flashy character design ties this fighter to a whole wave of 90s anime aesthetics. A Japanese release published by Technos Japan, making it one of the few fighters in the Neo Geo CD catalog that does not carry the SNK logo. The CD version stays more accessible than its AES cartridge counterpart, and the Japanese sleeve illustrated by Obari is the real hook for anyone following the artist.

Choujin Gakuen - Gowcaizer is a Technos fighting game adapted from a manga, in which superheroes clash and absorb their opponents' abilities in a parody tone. The anime-styled character design, by Masami Obari, and the absorption concept bring real personality. The stiff combat system, questionable balancing and an uneven presentation, however, bound its reach. For fans of obscure SNK versus fighting and 90s manga aesthetics, it is a dated curiosity but with an assertive identity.
