An arena fighter with hulking mechs that move surprisingly nimbly. The 3D space reads well, pacing is brisk and managing range and impact feels genuinely fun. A pleasingly agile Kikaioh.

Is Choukou Senki Kikaioh still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2000 on Dreamcast in Japan, this Capcom robot fighting game, known in the West as Tech Romancer, adopts an animated series staging. The three dimensional arenas, the super powered attacks and the colourful pilots set a wholeheartedly heroic tone. The readable duels and the story mode make it a generous experience. The technical depth stays limited against genre benchmarks, yet mecha lovers and fans of the Capcom label find a spectacular, sincere fight.
